It’s all happening!! The album received this wonderful 4 star review by John Shand in the Sydney Morning Herald today. We’re honoured to have been reviewed alongside great established talents St Vincent and John Butler.

Also, we’ve got a Jazzgroove gig coming up very soon. This one will feature a bunch of originals, some of which are brand new! Hope you can come along.

Our next gig will be at the brand new Sydney venue Foundry616! It’ll be a Cap’n K gig with a difference, with not one but TWO special guests! Along with heroic regulars Ellen, Glenn and Tom, we’ll be joined by sax extraordinaire Matt Ottignon and another Jann Rutherford Memorial Award winner, Ali Foster on drums! This will be a gig with a difference and we’ll be playing lots of tunes you won’t have heard from us before! Don’t miss out, k?

Capn K at Kinetic Jazz Festival 26th March!

This Sunday the 26th we’ll be playing two sets at the Kinetic Jazz Festival. We will be playing the ever-popular “Theseus” suite and another set of originals, including some new ones!

Here are the details:

Where? – St Luke’s Anglican Church Hall, Stanmore Rd Enmore

When? – 26th May, 6-8pm

How much? – $20 or $15 concession

Can under 18s come? – Yes!

Album Launch April 30th at Jazzgroove!

Captain Kirkwood’s new album “Theseus and the Minotaur” will be launched at Jazzgroove on Tuesday, 30th April. It features the 5 part “Theseus and the Minotaur” suite – a narrated “music story” based on the Greek myth, plus 3 other original tracks by bandleader Ellen Kirkwood.
